When people seek safer passage along the Golden Trails they are traveling on trusted & secure routes, where trans people & allies are there to support them every step of the way.

THE GOLDEN TRAILS

Be Pod Safe

The Federal Government has mandated the use of birth names & sex to track individuals in detention. If you are detained & those closest to you don’t know that information they may be unable to locate & help you.

Step 1: Create a Pod

Create a pod (5-10 people) of your chosen family & the people you trust.

Find your herd. Find your trusted people & talk about whats happening in your community, create a safety, action plan & designate roles.

Step 2: Assign Roles

  • Know Your Rights Specialist: A person who learns or knows their legal rights & stays up to date on important safety tips

  • The Talker or Spokesperson:  The person who can help de-escalate situations with Law Enforcement. This person can also keep the text groups flowing and fun.

  • The Medic: The person who takes the first aid class and learns CPR.

  • The Security Techy: That friend who loves knowing the latest updates on info & security both physical & digital.

Step 3: Create a Group Chat

Ideally using the Signal App or an encrypted messaging system to communicate is the safest option.

  • Password protect your messaging apps & use nicknames for each other in the group chat.

  • Set disappearing messages to 4 weeks or less.

  • Create an SOS phrase.

Trans People in Detention Centers

Trans people in I.C.E. facilities are being recorded only by their birth name. Trans women are being given clothing that doesn't fit their bodies while they are being places in men's facilities.

The Need for Data

The government is not reporting on how many trans people they are detaining. We need this report to understand what is happening to our community.

Expedited Deportation

Some trans people are facing expedited deportation (deportation without a trial). We have also seen government sanction violence used as propaganda against trans immigrants.

Relocation Crisis

TCN responds to discrimination based safety threats that are forcing trans people to flee their home. In an emergency we do our best to respond within 24-48 hours.

Deportation

If you, or a trans person you know, is a risk of deportation or has been deported we can offer our moving services to support you. We can also connect you with immigration lawyers & other resources to support you.

A Refugee Crisis

We are working to prepare for an entire community being threatened. Whether it be on the state or local level, if your community is at risk of losing 25% of its population within a short amount of time, we are here to support you.
